Spending Time - Thoughts and Journal Prompts for the Week of 07 April

How Are You Spending Your Time?

Time is the most precious resource we have. It's limited, it's non-renewable, and once it's gone, you can never get it back. Yet so many of us fail to use our time intentionally and consciously. We let the days, weeks, and years slip by, frittering away the hours on activities that don't truly enrich our lives or move us towards our goals.

Take a moment to reflect on how you've spent your time lately. How much of it was dedicated to pursuits that are meaningful and fulfilling to you? How much was wasted on mindless scrolling, binge-watching, or other empty time sinks? If you tracked where all your hours actually went, would you be pleased with the breakdown?

Life is too short to spend it on autopilot. Being intentional about how you use your time is one of the most important things you can do to live a satisfied life without regrets. Regularly assess your priorities and schedule your days accordingly. Minimize time-wasters and distractions. Focus on what really matters - whether that's nurturing relationships, pursuing a passion project, or simply being present with loved ones.

Your time is a precious gift. Spend it wisely on this one life you've been given. When you look back years from now, you'll be grateful you used those invaluable hours in alignment with what you truly value.

Journal Prompts

Monday
Do a time audit. For one full week, keep a log of how you spend every hour of your day. At the end of the week, review where your time actually went. What surprises you? What are you proud of? What would you like to change?

Tuesday
Make two lists - a list of activities that energize you and give you a sense of satisfaction, and a list of activities that drain your energy or leave you feeling empty. Which list are you devoting more time to currently? How can you shift the balance?

Wednesday
If you gained an extra hour each day, what would you choose to spend it on? An side project, more quality family time, exercise, reading? Write about what this extra hour would ideally look like. How can you start carving out pockets of time for these priorities now?

Thursday
Write about a typical weekday from start to finish. Look for holes of wasted time - moments of mindless scrolling, excessive TV watching, running endless errands. How could you fill those pockets more meaningfully?

Friday
If today was your last day on Earth, would you feel content with how you've spent your time recently? Write about any regrets over time misspent and how you can course correct going forward.
