Goals and Vision

We all have goals, and most of us can easily state them: lose weight, get a promotion, buy a house, or whatever your goal may be.

But goals are just part of a checklist.  They are tangible, attainable, and eventually, that are part of the past.

Vision, on the other hand, is precisely the opposite, even though vision is what the goals are helping you pursue.  Vision is intangible, unattainable, and forever part of the future.

Why do you want to lose weight? So you can live a healthier life.  When does the need to live a healthier life end? Never.

Why do you want to get the promotion? Perhaps it's to be more fulfilled in your career, perhaps it's because you want the money to better care for your family. When does wanting to be fulfilled in your career end? When does wanting to better care for your family end? Never.

Reaching a goal has a finish line.  Realizing a vision is like reaching the horizon.  It's a constant chase, and a worthy chase, even though you'll never get there. Not completely.

So keep going, keep attaining your goals, and keep chasing your vision.

Make every day count.
